Hangouts with James Fee - We've got a Waze to go

Episode 19 - This week Di-Ann Eisnor of Waze joined us from a coffee shop in San Francisco. Their wifi was weak, so her video and audio quality is poor, but the conversation was great and it’s worth sticking with it. Di-Ann told us about how Waze uses gamification to grow its maps, how they are working to make place-based ads and deals serve the Waze community while providing revenue, and why Waze has taken off more readily in some countries than others. Our live audience included several veteran Wazers, who asked great questions like:

  • ”…Italy is also the first country to be totally locked down due to the popularity and the dark side of those wanting to deface the maps. How do you plan to protect the maps?”
  • “Any partnership in the pipe with some municipalities interested in using Waze as a tool to control traffic?”
  • “what would be the next data input waze is interested in? record the cameras from our dash-mounted phones for your own streetview?”
  • “Di-Ann, what currently keeps you up at night in regards to Waze? What are your concerns about Waze’s growth and future?”
  • “How do you adapt to local laws? In some countries reporting speed traps is illegal.”

Di-Ann gamely answered all these questions and more. Thanks again to her, our live audience, and to you for watching!
